Abba Kyari publishes his account and details of his assets
Suspended Deputy Police Commissioner Abba Kyari said on Monday the National Drug Enforcement Agency allegation, tying it to ownership of 14 assets, including a shopping centerresidential estate, polo playing field, land and agricultural land, was wrong.
Kyari, a former intelligence response team commander, in a statement from his attorney, Hamza Dan Tani, said the reports were orchestrated by the NDLEA to further tarnish his image.
According to him, the agency resorted to cheap blackmail because “the NDLEA case in court against Abba Kyari and four others is not going well for them”.
He challenged the NDLEA to immediately release all his account statements to the public if what they say is true.
Sharing the details, Tani said there was 2.8 million naira in his UBA account, the only account he has used for eight years; 7,000 lbs in GTB stored over eight years ago and N350,000 in GTB stored many years ago.
Others were N200,000 in Sterling Bank and Access Bank Account unused for over eight years.
Kyari’s attorney said, “They expected the trial to go smoothly in their favor the same way their sponsored media trials went viral between February and April 2022. They didn’t understand that unlike media trials, courts need evidence and real facts that the NDLEA does not have. have in this case.
“By all means, in desperation, again, NDLEA wanted to spoil Abba Kyari’s name at all costs because they know that all their initial efforts have failed as an overwhelming majority of good Nigerians who want the peace and security for the Nation is still behind Abba Kyari despite the NDLEA setting up against Abba Kyari in January 2022, which was followed by a massive sponsored media trial earlier this year.
“Again, the NDLEA is sponsoring fabricated lies, false stories and flimsy allegations, trumped up and false accusations in court without substantiation against Abba Kyari.”
He recalled that on August 29, 2022, Judge Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed an action brought by the Attorney General of the Federation to extradite DCP Abba Kyari to America.
“On August 30, the NDLEA filed another 24 charges against DCP Abba Kyari just to mislead the general public and tarnish his image while the same case was before the Federal High Court in Maiduguri and without any evidence linking Abba Kyari to any of these properties or any connection to drug money, theft of government money or any proceeds of crime,” Tani said.
The lawyer insisted that all claims about NDLEA money and properties belonging to Abba Kyari were false, false and untrue, just to mislead the public into falsely believing that he belongs to Abba Kyari.
The statement read: “The businessmen who own these properties and gave their documents have already filed their cases against the NDLEA in the Federal High Court in Maiduguri. The NDLEA, without any evidence, went to mark the properties of innocents in Maiduguri and Abuja in April 2022 and released the news to the media which went viral.
“It’s just a malicious media trial with no evidence to show in court. If the NDLEA has evidence linking Abba Kyari to any of these properties apart from his farmland and a house, it should make it public immediately.
“This whole property case is in the Federal High Court in Maiduguri but the NDLEA is still desperate trying to link Abba Kyari without any evidence to financial crimes and properties that do not belong to him, there is no no plus a kobo of drug money or crime money that is related to Abba Kyari in any way.
“We challenge the NDLEA to immediately release the evidence to the public, if at all. The whole thing is only aimed at media trials because they have no evidence to show in court. If they have the evidence, let them release it to the media. This is how all their cases will collapse in court since their goal is only a media trial.
“For the record, the total money in Abba Kyari’s account is 2.8 million naira in his UBA account, the only account he has been using for eight years, 7,000 pounds in GTB kept over 100 years ago. eight years and 350,000 naira in GTB. preserved many years ago.
“Less than N200,000 in Sterling Bank and Access Bank Account unused for over eight years. This is all the money that DCP Abba Kyari has in his accounts, which he has stated and the NDLEA should immediately release all of Abba Kyari’s account statements if what they say is true.
